Spice kit winners

Judging by the responses to my latest giveaway, I’d say my readers either have full spice racks, do not plan to cook for Thanksgiving next week or just don’t like free stuff.

I received comments from THREE readers who specifically stated that they’d like to win one of two McCormick spice collections for Thanksgiving — Dennis, Sandi Saunders and Liz. Unfortunately, I only have the two kits, so I asked one of my colleagues to pick a number between one and three in order to eliminate one contestant. He chose three, so unfortunately, Liz, you’re the odd one out.

Dennis and Sandi win the McCormick spice kits. I still don’t feel right about leaving out the only other person who entered, so guess what, Liz? I’m going to send you a cookbook.

If you would each please email me at lindsey.nair@roanoke.com with your shipping addresses, we’ll get these prizes to you. Thanks!

Lindsey, speaking only for myself, the reasons I didn’t enter to win the spice kits are because of allergies and because I grow my own herbs, which I preserve for winter useage. One of the allergies, cinnamon, was in one spice kit. Among other allergies, fennel is a common ingredient in kits, so I felt it would be best not to compete. Besides, with fresh and preserved herbs at my disposal, it didn’t seem exactly fair to compete against those who might not be as fortunate to have them as I do.
