I know we were told not to go there already in a previous thread, but, here I am.
Since Saturday, I’ve seen electrical utility trucks from: North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and even Nebraska. I’m sure several other states donated to the effort.
All those folks are working today, on the 4th of July, because ‘it’s their job’. They don’t ask for a backslap or even a ‘thank you’. They do it because they signed up for the job.
Here’s to their children in all those other states, who haven’t seen their parent in several days, and who will get to celebrate American freedom tonight, in the absence of that parent.
I’ve been through multiple hurricanes, multiple floods, multiple tornados. There are folks who work hard to return me to my life of ‘luxury’ every time, and I never see their faces.
Here’s to them. Whether on the 4th of July, or any other day of the year, I appreciate that they do the dirty work so we all can enjoy a better life.
