Chick-fil-A issues statement about appreciation day

Here is a link to the story I reported for today’s paper about Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day, which was yesterday. As my story reports, gay rights advocates are organizing a local version of the National Same Sex Kiss Day. It will take place at the stand-alone Valley View Mall Chick-fil-A location from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. tomorrow (Friday).

Chick-fil-A has issued a statement today about their “record-setting” sales day yesterday. Here it is in its unaltered form:

Statement Following Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day
August 2, 2012
Attribute to: Steve Robinson, executive vice president, marketing, Chick-fil-A, Inc.

We are very grateful and humbled by the incredible turnout of loyal Chick-fil-A customers on August 1 at Chick-fil-A restaurants around the country. We congratulate local Chick-fil-A Owner/Operators and their team members for striving to serve each and every customer with genuine hospitality.

While we don’t release exact sales numbers, we can confirm reports that it was a record-setting day.

Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day was not a company promotion; it was initiated by others.  The Chick-fil-A culture and service tradition in our restaurants is to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect –regardless of their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender. We understand from news reports that Friday may present yet another opportunity for us to serve with genuine hospitality, superior service and great food.

In other words, “We are laughing all the way to the bank at the idiots on both sides of this issue.” Ka-ching! And corporate stooges win again, at the expense of ordinary people who can’t be bothered to emerge from their carb-induced diabetic comas to realize they’ve been duped.

Chick-fil-A is not open on Sundays because frankly it’s a logistical nightmare getting everyone to and from Westboro Baptist Church on time.

    tass,

I think what your referring to is capitalism which is what makes this country so great! I was one of those “ordinary people”that you say was duped, but I chose to go support a business that has a spine and stands up for what it believes and I will continue to give Chick Fil A my hard earned money anytime I fell like going into a “carb induced diabetic coma” Eat Mor Chikin!!!!!!

“corporate stooges”? who do you work for Tass?

Sounds like Chick-Fil-A is taking the high road in all of this. Let’s see if the “protesters” do the same on Friday.

Any truth to the rumor that Chick-fil-A had ordered 500,000 lbs. of horse meat for customer appreciation day?

#4 Not all the CFA supporters took such a high road yesterday, will.

It wasn’t just “corporate stooges” who won. Local franchise owners also got a big windfall. And for that, I say “Bravo!”

Fine with the Kiss Day thing, but at a public restraunt? No one wants to see tounge wrestling by ANY gender, or combination thereof, in a public restraunt. Totally inappropriate forum for such activity. Have we learned nothing from Westboro Babtist church???

Test to see if there are now paragraph breaks.

    Testing.
