Five Guys update

In May, The Storefront blogger Amanda Codispoti reported that Five Guys Burgers and Fries was going to open a location at Tanglewood Mall. According to a press release sent out today by the mall, the restaurant is still (tentatively) scheduled to open in November in the space that most recently housed Charlie’s American Grill.

“Five Guys Burgers and Fries will be a great addition to the tenant mix at Tanglewood Mall,” said Brad Boothe, the mall’s Marketing Manager, in a press release. “We are very excited to add another well established chain to our restaurant options here at Tanglewood.”

Five Guys currently has locations in Blacksburg and Lynchburg, and is opening one at Spradlin Farms in Christiansburg soon. They’ve been advertising job openings for the Christiansburg location, so they may be getting close.

A location on West Main Street in Salem closed in January 2011. The restaurant that filled the vacancy, Burger Bistro, closed this past spring.

Five Guys, Steak ‘n’ Shake; if all the decent burger joints that are supposed to be coming actually do come, Roanoke will be a hotspot for burgers. But while we’re still prospecting on what might be, we might as well dream big, get some really juicy rumors started. I heard we’re getting a Shake Shack AND an In ‘n’ Out! Followed in close order by Whataburger, Smashburger, Umami Burger, Wahlburger, White Castle and Fatburger. And they’re all going into the Ivy Market property.

Looks like 5 O’Clock game early for someone. Jeff, you might want to ease up on the sauce before posting!

Love me some Steak ‘n’ Shake and I hope they do finally end up building here. But (to me) the term “decent burger” and Five Guys don’t belong in the same sentence! Sorry Five Guys lovers, it’s just IMHO…

I don’t see White Castle coming here after Krystal sank so quickly.

Five Guys has great burgers, and as for their fries? Just remember, you are NOT required to eat all of them just because they gave them to you.

keep all the rest, if Roanoke could get a Shake Shake, enough said. The second best is Cook Out. But Shake Shack has the best burgers ever. Lindsey, I was wondering if you had any info on the Wing Boss on Orange Ave? I drive by all the time and for months there is a sign and equipment inside but no activity for many months. Are they still going to open? thanks
