Yes! We have some tomatoes

It’s time to share some more tomato photos from readers. And I’ll even throw in a picture of my own tomatoes, which are doing quite well this summer, I must say. These are Golden Boys, Better Boys and Black Cherry tomatoes:

Next up, we have some lovely tomatoes (below) grown by Dorothy Farmer of Roanoke, with help from her friend Otis Howell. Two of the tomatoes Dorothy and Otis grew weighed in at almost two pounds each. I don’t know what kind of tomatoes these are, but they kind of look like Brandywines:

And last but not least, this tomato “Peep”(bottom photo) was grown by Karen Moffitt. She said it was almost too cute to eat … ALMOST. Thanks for the submissions, folks!

Those big tomatoes look like German Sweets.

Good looking tomatoes. Ours seem to have gotten a second wind after the blistering heat.

We had some German ?? something anothers last year and they do look like those Sandy.

Between the stink bugs and the slugs it’s hard to find a perfect tomato on any of my vines. Have started picking at the first hint of a blush and finishing on the window sill, maybe that will work. We’ll see…

Sadly, my tomatoes aren’t doing very well this year. My step-dad has plenty (and he is happy to share), but he has to pick them while they are green because as soon as they start ripening, critters eat them. Monday, he picked his first ripe watermelon (a Charleston Grey), which weighed in at a whopping 38 pounds.

@Art Hill, I repotted my hens and chickens yesterday and I’ve never seen so many slugs all in one place as I saw down in the pot under those succulents. But they don’t seem to hurt the plants, so maybe if you keep a pot of hens and chickens around, they’ll leave your tomatoes alone. Wishful thinking, probably :-)
Now, if you LITERALLY had hens and chickens around…

I have a half eaten cherry tomato sitting next to my basil pot. Some chipmunk is taunting me.

Darn chipmunk! My dad says turtles have been gnawing on his tomatoes.

Oooh, that looks wonderful, Debbie. Especially with those lovely tomatoes they used.I’ll be bookmarking that one.
