Thanks for this very helpful information! I’ve purchased one of the Southern Supreme fruitcakes from Fresh Market, and it’s very good! I’m also glad to know about Grama’s Goodies as another option.

JL, I have never had anything from Grandma’s Goodies in Cburg that wasn’t delicious. I’m sure their fruitcakes are the same.

Grama’s Goodies, in Christiansburg, makes a very tasty fruit cake that it sells in three different sizes.

Fresh Market carries the Southern Supreme fruitcakes during the holidays. Recommend visiting their kitchen/store in Bear Creek, NC, not too far from Chapel Hill. It really is good cakefruit.

Jeff, I don’t know of a local supplier for tasty fruitcakes, but I do know of a regional supplier who makes excellent fruitcakes.

These are NOT similar to the fruitcakes you find in your local grocer. These actually taste good. They’re heavy with nuts, and the candied fruit tastes homemade. In fact, the company syarted out as a couple of sisters making these for relatives, if I remember. The same recipe just grew into a huge business, evidently.

Anyway, it’s a regional company, and I’ve eaten their fruitcakes, and they’re one of the extremely few fruitcakes I’ve ever eaten that tasted good. Theirs tastes really good!
