Restaurant reviewer wanted

The Roanoke Times is seeking a creative, energetic freelancer to review restaurants in the Roanoke Valley. If you are a foodie with a talent for writing, this may be just the opportunity for you.

Qualified candidates must have knowledge of food and of the Roanoke area. They should be up-to-date on new restaurant openings, and it is imperative that they be able to meet deadlines. Reviewers are required to visit each restaurant twice per review and must maintain their anonymity.

To apply, please send in:
* Your full name, address, email address and telephone number.
* A written statement (300 words or fewer) about why you believe you would be a good fit for the job. Include two restaurants you’d like to review.
* A review (500 to 600 words; published or not) of a Roanoke restaurant that includes information about the ambiance, food and service.
* If applicable, a link to any blog for which you write on a regular basis.

Submit application materials via email to lindsey.nair@roanoke.com or mail to The Roanoke Times, c/o Lindsey Nair, P.O. Box 2491, Roanoke, VA 24010.

The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013.

I would like to recommend Jeff Eadens as your new food critic. He has written many great reviews on various websites about food in the Roanoke area.

Dave Huggett is WITH OUT DOUBT, your guy for this job…hopefully he shared his blog with you,,,that should be enough proof in it’s self…I have been lucky enough to hang out with Dave on several occasions, where he introduced me to new food,,,no restaurants…I am always super impressed by his all around knowledge of the dish…the history of the dish as well as different preparation methods…he KNOWS food…all kinds, from all over the world which he has traveled and experienced…I’d read his reviews,,,and I think he would get a quick following given the exposure…

Just heard that my friend David Huggett has applied for this job. If his own cooking skills have any relation to the job, he is definitely more than Qualified!

Thanks everybody. We are getting applications and will pick someone in the new year. Jeff, I have not received an application from you.

Dave Hugget Would do great as a Restaurant Reviewer. I have worked with Dave for a while and have never met anyone whom enjoys Cooking and Trying Different Cultures of Food more than he does.

Another vote for Dave Huggett! Dave is absolutely a food lover and explores many cuisines – then recreates them all. He is very knowledgeable and traveled – his comparison and insight would be nothing short of an asset to this cause. I strongly recommend considering him for this position. Good luck and thanks for adding this resource for the community!

Jeff Eadens is still interested in the position. Jeff not only knows the local mainstay eateries like the back of his hand but he frequents the not so known places that many don’t go to. Also, with his travels he has a vast knowledge of restraunts up and down the eastern coast that your readers would enjoy hearing about.
