My wife and I went there once, we weren’t all that impressed. The people were very nice, service was good, but the food just didn’t “wow” us. We love Boar’s Head product so were a bit let down. The food was good, but to use my wife’s description, it was “uneventful.”

I love R.T. Smith’s. Friendly service and good food. I like their sandwiches but I usually go for the lunch specials. Their eggplant rollatini is very good, and their strawberry cobbler sometimes served with a lunch special, is amazing.

@garc: R.T. Smith’s has a “build your own” sandwich option. You could ask for eggs and cheese along with veggies.

I don’t get down to R.T. Smith’s as much as I would like, but their Griffin is one of my all-time favorite sandwiches.

I would eat there if they had a single vegetarian sandwich that wasn’t literally ALL vegetables. Maybe an egg sandwich? A cheese sandwich?

Love love LOVE R.T. Smith’s!! Best kept secret in downtown Roanoke. My family & I started going when they opened and the owner’s have always remembered us with every other visit. Especially love Tracey as she is always so pleasant and willing to do whatever she can to make your visit spectacular. This place puts the other “delis” in Roanoke to shame. *coughNewYorkercough*

Their Reuben sandwich is my favorite! Plus I recommend their Oma’s Crumb Cake. I also get my Boar’s Head deli meats and cheeses there as well. They can actually *shave* deli meat orders.
