Once again, the city of Salem was kind enough to ask me to take part in one of its Chef’s Circle cooking demonstrations at the Salem Farmers Market. Fortunately, I won’t be up there alone in front of the crowd — I will be assisting the talented and knowledgeable Mary Rapoport, who does consumer affairs and education for the Virginia Egg Council.
Mary gamely stepped in at the LAST MINUTE to take over for Hotel Roanoke Chef Sandra Krebs, who had some unforeseen circumstances that caused her to miss it. Since Mary frequently does cooking demonstrations for TV, she’ll be a natural up there.
The Chef’s Circle is a fun, free event that takes place in a mobile kitchen right there on the market. You may want to bring your own camp chair so you can sit down and enjoy the show. We’ll be giving out as many free samples as we can.
The dishes Mary has planned to demo are Blueberry-stuffed Brunch Puff, Signature Deviled Eggs, Farmers Market Frittata, and an easy breakfast sandwich. She’ll also share a recipe and samples of a Watermelon Cake.
You can grab copies of those recipes at the market tomorrow, but don’t fret if you don’t get them. I’ll post them on the blog next week.
The event will be emceed by Mike Stevens, communications director for the city of Salem and a former television personality on WDBJ-7.
If you come out for the show, please be sure to introduce yourself! I love to meet my blog readers.
