Kroger’s Mid-Atlantic office announced today that it has donated more than $53,000 to Feeding America Southwest Virginia.
Kroger Vice President Valerie Jabbar today presented the check to Pamela Irvine, CEO of the food bank, at the Kroger store on Rutgers Avenue in northwest Roanoke.
The money came from two Kroger campaigns. The first was “Feed the Need,” which raised more than $31,000 in local stores. “Bringing Hope to the Table,” a national Kroger effort, raised more than $22,000.
Irvine said in a press release sent out today by Kroger that the donation would provide almost 250,000 meals to people in need in southwest Virginia.
The “Bringing Hope to the Table” campaign raised $3 million for Feeding America. Kroger’s Mid-Atlantic office donated more than $118,000 to 10 different food banks in Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina and the portions of Tennessee, Kentucky and Ohio served by Kroger.
