Back in April, I reported that the owners of Marco & Luca dumpling shop were expanding into the Roanoke City Market Building. Marco & Luca currently has three locations in Charlottesville and a new location in Blacksburg, which we reviewed in June.
Initially, the owners hoped to open the Roanoke location this summer, but we’re on the tail end of summer and it’s not open. Some readers have asked for an update, so I checked in with market building manager Michelle Dykstra.
Dykstra says the build-out of the kitchen there was delayed because it took a long time to get the approval back from the health department. That approval has now come through, so work can begin to get the space ready.
Dykstra said she hopes the restaurant, which offers a simple menu of dumplings, noodles, steamed buns and soup, will be able to open about the first of October.
We’ll keep you posted.
