According to a building permit filed Thursday with the city of Roanoke, the company intends to do about $75,000 in remodeling to the former Padow’s Deli location. The work will include upgrading the restrooms to make them compliant with accessibility laws, installing new ceiling tiles and fixtures, painting, and adding a doughnut display case and menu boards.
The permit also states that Krispy Kreme would like to use the road sign from its Melrose Avenue location for decoration on one of the interior walls. The Melrose shop was shuttered after it was heavily damaged by an attic fire on May 31.
However, Krispy Kreme spokeswoman Lafeea Watson could not confirm that the Townside Festival location will never be a manufacturing site.
“We are still weighing our options regarding this location,” she wrote via email on Thursday, “so I can’t confirm much more than the information in the permit. But even that is subject to change.”
