For today’s Front Burner column, I did something I have always wanted to do. Our archives are full of fascinating old restaurant photos, so I pulled several to share with readers.
Here’s an example of one. This photo of Down the Hatch, a bar that was located in the basement at the Patrick Henry Hotel, was shot in 1976. There are many more where this picture came from. Click here to find the column and see the entire gallery.
As I noted in the column, one of the problems with archive photos is that the details about many of the restaurants (very little was written on the backs of the photos) are buried in microfilm. But I’m sure a lot of you remember these places, so feel free to use the comment space on this blog entry to fill in some details and share those memories with everyone!
