BBQ weekend! Cookbook giveaway!

Happy warm, sunny Friday!
Am I the only one who wishes that instead of sitting at her desk today, she was out in the yard with her hands in the dirt? Followed by a lazy afternoon on the deck, sipping something frosty and grilling something savory?
Well, if Mother Nature cooperates, maybe you folks can spend tomorrow on such important endeavors. Unfortunately, I will be attending a wedding (no offense to my friends on their special day).
In honor of the great grilling weather, I'm going to give away THREE books today! That's right! And it's going to be easy to win, too. These books will go to the first, second and third people to comment on this entry and tell me they want them. Anyone who has won a book before is disqualified, though.
First commentor wins "BBQ Bash: The Be-All, End-All Party Guide, from Barefoot to Black Tie" by Karen Adler and Judith Fertig.
Winner No. 2 gets "Burgers: 52 Easy Recipes for Year-Round Cooking" by Sally Sampson.
Winner No. 3 will receive "BBQ Joints: Stories and Secret Recipes from the Barbecue Belt" by David Gelin with a foreward by John T. Edge, the unofficial Mayor of Southern Cooking.
Also, stay tuned for next week's Front Burner column. I've wrested a very important rub recipe from one of the best chefs in the South.
I'll be back later to announce winners.

I would love to win a cookbook! I will not be at a wedding tomorrow, but I will be in class from 9-4. There are a lot of windows in the classroom and I will be so jealous of all the people who are outside grilling and planting. A book would make it a lot better. :-)

No you are not the only one wishing she was playing in the dirt. Yes I want to be on my deck sipping a frosty something and just basking in the sun with my cat on my lap. I think I'll grill some burgers and asparagus....

I barbeque all year round. My grill never gets a rest. But its even better when you don't have to wear a jacket to cook your food and to enjoy the sunshine.

Lindsey: Love reading your column here on the blog and in the newspaper. Like you I'd much rather be outside just enjoying the sunshine and dusting off the grill. ... Oh well, we can always dream while we sit at our desks!

You're right about the day, although the left-over bbq chicken for lunch helped. I'd love a book if I'm in the running. Thanks for your blog.

I can always learn to do better on the grill. I think this may be a beef tenderloin weekend at our house. Wonderful off the grill!

Lindsey, I am going down to SML to help with opening up my parent's lake house for the summer tomorrow. Cleaning patio furniture, washing, scrubbing boats and jetskis and yard work. I love this annual event because of helping my mom. I do not use the home much but they do. I love all of my mom's many receipes and marinades for grilling when I am there. They are always great meals after working hard. And they are a treat too along with a cocktail. Have a great weekend.
