Well, after I received a press package from the Tootsie Roll company, a few of us back in the Features department reminisced about that commercial. Of course, in typical Features style, the conversation quickly veered off course to why owls would know how many licks it takes, if owls even have tongues, that owls usually eat mice and then...well, I'll just stop there. Back on subject, the Tootsie Roll folks have rolled out a new product called Tootsie Drops. The drops are basically miniature versions of a Tootsie Roll Pop except without the schtick...er, stick! The round, lozenge-sized hard candies have a tiny Tootsie Roll center and come in pouches with about 20 candies per pouch. The flavors are the same: chocolate, cherry, orange, grape and blue raspberry. Except I don't remember there being bright blue Tootsie Roll Pops when I was little. Must be a newish one. The company also sent a bag of original Tootsie Roll Pops for old time's sake. I haven't seen this much Tootsie Roll candy since a tractor trailer hauling Tootsie Roll Pops wrecked on Interstate 64 one time and spilled its load. My mom passed by, saw a cop she knew and was given a huge case of the things. I think she gave them away on her school bus for weeks after that. So, what do you guys think? Would you or your children try out Tootsie Roll Drops, or do you prefer them with the stick? |

Di : →http://diane_conner@rgcresources.comThe concept of Tootsie Roll Drops really isn't new. I remember purchasing them 25 - 30 years ago. At that time, they were packaged in a roll (like Lifesavers only larger), tended to have a flatter shape as opposed to being round, and were restricted to a single flavor in each roll. If I am recalling correctly, they were called Tootsie Pop Drops then.

DennisWell...I think that I'd try them. I haven't had a Tootsie Roll Pop for who knows how many years! But I'd try these drops just for the novelty of it. Also with these you could have a smaller dose of the candy, which is probably a good thing.

We are a fan of the lollipops, so I am sure we would be a fan of the candies too. My youngest LOVES jawbreakers - she may have the largest fan potential. I am a fan of the traditional lollipop. After all, you can't count how many SUCKS it takes to finish a drop.
I like the schtick AND the stick.

DebbieI would definitely try them, and my grandson who loves anything sweet, especially chocolate would love them I'm sure.
He can't pronounce chocolate properly yet, but he loves it.
