Vegansexuals...what more can I say?

My friend Mary just sent me a link to this quirky New Zealand article. Apparently, some folks there have become so serious about their decision to never eat animal products that they've taken it a step further....into the bedroom.
Yes, these vegansexuals refuse to ever have sex with someone who eats meat products. Check out this quote from some anonymous vegansexual in the article:
"When you are vegan or vegetarian, you are very aware that when people eat a meaty diet, they are kind of a graveyard for animals," she said.
Hmmmm. I have nothing witty to say about this. At least, not if I want to keep my job.

O.....k

I know people take some beliefs and inner morals a little too seriously, but taking it to this step seems a bit too far.

But alas, some treat their body as a temple, others as a gravesite.

If someone strongly believes in or are against something, they want to be with people who are like them. For instance I would never date someone who likes or voted for GWB!! I dont eat red meat or pork but I dont discriminate against those that do consume them.

Sheep outnumber humans in New Zealand, leading me to believe that the burden of this newfound choosiness is on the fluffy backs of the majority. Remember Kiwis...BAHHH means No!

I'm no vegan but this makes some sense to me. Diet is one of the most important aspects of our lives, and if you're going to share your life with someone, it's logical to seek culinary compatibility. I think it's similar to non-smokers seeking to date non-smokers.

My first reaction to this story was, wow, that's a pretty extreme view. But Mason makes a great point. I could not share my life with someone who's culinary choices were so severely limited and so completely different than my own. Lucky for me that my husband and daughter eat meat right along with me. Food is what brings families together, so if you can't share a meal with someone you love, that could really strain a relationship.

I followed a vegetarian and/or vegan diet for many years. I noticed during that time that the body odor of meat-eating friends and family (including my husband) smelled like rancid meat to me. When I began eating meat again, I lost the ability to detect those scents. I probably smell like old meat now to vegetarians. Thankfully, my vegetarian friends are too kind to mention it! lol
