KGC: Finger-Lickin' Good (for you)?
Not long after switching cooking oils for a trans fat-free fried chicken product, Kentucky Fried Chicken says it is launching a new product for a whole new image: Kentucky Grilled Chicken.
According to an Associated Press story, KFC's chief food innovation officer, Doug Hasselo, says "This is transformational for our brand."
Customers may soon see "Now Grilling" signs outside their local KFC restaurant, as well as altered storefront signs and even a different chicken bucket.
The article says the grilled chicken has less fat, calories and sodium than the fried product. But it still has more than 600 milligrams of sodium, more than a third of what a 50-year-old consumer should have in a day.
At least KFC is finally jumping on the healthy food bandwagon. Although personally, I know where to go to find healthy food. And I know where to go when I want to indulge in a piece of fast food fried chicken.
What do you all think? Would you try the new KGC?

RichAbsolutely not.
You said it best: "...I know where to go to find healthy food. And I know where to go when I want to indulge in a piece of fast food fried chicken."
If Chick-Fila started making hamburgers, I doubt I'd get one there.
I give this KGC concept 18 months before it goes the way of New Coke. I'll bet they have contengincy plans drafted for a quick changeover BACK to KFC after KGC takes its massive belly flop.
Look at the test cities in that article...sure it might do well in once or two of those, but the national roll out will not be pretty.

Amy Hanek : →http://www.houseonthegladehill.blogspot.comI am, unfortunately, on a diet - so I find myself seeing just the fat.
In the end you have to wonder how much of a good thing is not a good thing?

DennisYeah, I'd try it. I rarely eat at KFC and don't really feel like it's that big a deal. When the fast food "burger" joints add a chicken or fish sand. I never think about it being unusual. I almost never eat at fast food places anyway, just not my thing. Anyway, KFC has good slaw and a couple other things, and I'd be happy to try a grilled piece of chicken to go with it.

CraigPerhaps your readers have forgotten KFC's 'Rotisserie Gold Chicken' in the early 1990's. Apparently KFC has also forgotten their mistake. 'Gold', a skinless, rotisserie-cooked chicken was introduced as a clear imitation of the Boston Market format. Although clearly healthier than the traditional fried chicken they already sold, Gold also cost more per-piece. Consumers never supported the brand and the company's core urban markets continued to buy the fried chicken which was both less expensive and 'tasted better'. By 1996 it was discontinued. I don't see this flirtation with grilled chicken ending much differently.
