Patrick Henry athlete wins prestigious state award
Patrick Henry senior Caroline Brailsford has been named the Virginia female winner of the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award.
Brailsford, a volleyball and track and field standout, was chosen from 10 finalists out of an original pool of more than 400 applicants.
The award is based on athletics, academics, and community and school leadership.
Virginia’s male winner was Geoffrey Marston of Hampton Roads Academy.
Brailsford and Marston will be eligible to be named one of 12 national finalists in their respective divisions. The 12 national finalists will appear in New York on Dec. 7. The national winners will be recognized during college football’s Heisman Trophy Award telecast Dec. 8.
