Rowsey scores 60 points in Rockbridge win

Rockbridge County High School senior Andrew Rowsey posted one of the highest individual boys basketball scoring totals in Timesland history Saturday night with 60 points in a 117-87 victory over Stuarts Draft in the third-place game in the Spotswood Invitational in Penn Laird.
Rockbridge head coach Darrell Plogger said Rowsey was removed from the game with six minutes to play.
The 5-foot-11 senior guard has scored 121 points in three games this season for the Wildcats (2-1), for an averaged of 40.3 points per game.

The kid is amazing to watch, love having him at Rockbridge. But the Cats have to have contributions from other players if they want to get back to the state tournament. Rowsey can drop 40 every night but not sure that will be enough without help.

I don’t know who is thinking state tournament right now for this team. Spotswood, also Division 3 in Region III, beat Rockbridge by 30 on Friday night. We’ll see what Rockbridge looks like against Robert E. Lee as they play twice later this month.

You do have to look at the fact that almost half the team and 3 starters were on the football team and had only two practices before playing Spotswood. By the time district play rolls around I look for them to be clicking, give them time to come together.
