Here is part of the high school football notebook that will run in Thursday’s Roanoke Times.
It lists the records already set this year by Northside’s football team, which plays James Monroe of Fredericksburg in Saturday’s championship game.
Upcoming later will be a feature story on Northside quarterback Dom Dunnaville and a look at the fundraising at Northside.
Ray Cox will have a feature story on Giles, plus we will have game previews with starting lineups and statistics in Saturday’s paper.
No matter what happens Saturday in the championship game, the 2013 season already has been record-setting for Northside.
The Vikings have set new single-season team records for victories (13), points (488) and passing yardage (2,339), heading into the noon championship game at Liberty University in Lynchburg.
Northside eclipsed the old mark for points in a season of 366 during its regular-season finale against Rockbridge County.
Northside quarterbacks Dom Dunnaville and Will Culicerto have combined for the passing yardage record, breaking the old mark of 2,109.
Dunnaville also has set a new single-season total offense mark with 3,274 yards (2,062 passing and 1,214) rushing.
Senior defensive lineman DeAnthony Muse has broken his own single-season record for tackles for loss with 24. Muse set the previous mark last year with 21.
Muse, who has committed to Richmond, is one quarterback sack away from tying the Northside single-season and career marks of 12, and 21, respectively.
