Epperson rocks it
Simon got it right this time when he said Asia'h Epperson's performance was his "favorite of the night".
She did a rendition of Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart".
Asia'h is the 19-year-old whose father died in a car crash two days before her first audition, when she sang "How Do I Live".
I thought her performance tonight was great. Asia'h really let her emotions show.
What about you? Yeah -- you! What do you think?

Dawn Michelle : →http://www.myspace.com/dawnmichellemusicOK... So I just have to say that while Asia'h has got some pipes, I am not sure I buy the whole dead father 2 days before the audition thing. There is definitely more to the story and although I have done exhaustive web searches I have not been able to uncover ANYTHING that corroborates this story (that is not so say it doesn't exist only that I have not been able to find anything). Now I am sure the Idol people do check their facts and I just HOPE, sincerely, that this was not just a distasteful ruse to gain attention from both the Judges and American Idol viewers.
I think it is important to note that there were plenty of performances by contestents (guys and girls) that were ripped to shreds (some with reason others without) by Simon and the fact that he had nothing nasty to say about a performance that while, admittedly good, did have its own issues (some pitch problems etc...) is some sort of indication that all is not as it seems in Idol-land.
I find it interesting to see how Simon treats certain contestants versus others and the truth is that, in most cases, it seems to have little to do with their actual talent but perhaps more to do wtih how well he thinks they will or will not be embraced by the viewers (or even how he WANTS them to be percieved by viewers). I swear sometimes when I listen to the judges it is as if they are trying to convince the audience that something did or did not happen irregardless of what actually what transpired. (A perfect example of this is the performance by Danny Noriega which was literally ripped apart by Simon with a level of venom that I am not sure I have seen, even from bitter old Simon) that is not to say that Danny performed perfectly but it was interesting and was at least better than most all of the guys before him.
I am a singer myself and very sensitive to pitch issues and vocal tones and I am just not sure that the judges are actually listening to the performances when they gush over some pretty little blonde who was mediocre, at best, and then tear apart folks who may have actually given strong performances.
