I bite my own tongue
Rather than dig through my previous comments to find my exact quote, I'll just summarize here. Last week I think I said something along the lines of "What do they see in David Archuletta?" Or, "Am I missing something when it comes to David Archuletta?" Something like that. I bite my tongue this week. That kid can sing.
Not only did I get chills when he sang "Imagine," but I also got chills again when they recapped the dang performance. It's one thing to say "OK, who does he think he is to try to sing a Freddie Mercury song?" (um, that Luke guy, yeah give it up), but to even ATTEMPT to sing John Lennon? Has any Idol-wannabe ever tried to pull that off? David did. And he nailed it. It was pretty amazing. So amazing, in fact, that I tossed my notes and decided to only write about him tonight. Because, frankly, no one held a candle to that performance.

Jen D (too)David Archuleta will win this competition. He is a far cry better than any of the other guys in terms of natural singing ability, and I can't think of one girl that is anywhere near as talented. He's cute, he's not arrogant (like some of the others) and he seems genuine.
On another note, why is it that the singers get so defensive? Take you criticism and move on. Hopefully this is just for ratings and show because some of them have real attitude problems.

Jordan : →http://www.roanoke.comWow. So we were having this debate at the Fifer household last night. David Archuletta: good or bad?
I thought it was a decent performance -- but not anything great. But I'll admit that he's probably hot with the ladies (as all the screaming suggested), so that's a factor. But the singing? I just didn't see it. And I was completely surprised that Simon loved it, too!
I don't know... maybe I'll be the one biting my tongue next week, though.

Amy Hanek : →http://www.houseonthegladehill.blogspot.comCan you believe he is only 17 years old? He was born to be a star - undeniably.
Chickesie (spelled wrong, I am sure) did a phenomenal job with his performance as well, Danny did better than I hoped - he can sing, but he just irks me - too dramatic? The little girls obviously adore him and he should last another week at least.
The bad performances were done by forgettable artists... so I forget their names (understandably so).
I wonder if the girls will bring their glam tonight...

LuluOk, I voted for the first time last night and was totally shocked when I got through on the first try. It made me think "People aren't voting anymore!" I voted for David A. (and 3 others), even though I wasn't totally in love how he redid "Imagine." But I did think he was the only one of them all who could pull off a slow song.

fanUmm - didn't Blake do the same song last year? I wasn't as impressed as everyone seems to be. I thought he over-embellished a song that is much more effective when it is simplified (as in Lennon's original arrangement).

Jen D (the original)Wendy...I'm 1000% with you (big surprise, eh?) as it relates to your take on last night's show. I too was wondering what the big fuss was about David. But last night, I pretty much ate my words. The kid was amazing.
Other than that, I was bored the entire show and for the first time, I found myself wondering if I can keep doing this after this season.

LynnetteIs it just me, or does that Jason Yeager guy look like the love child of Wayne Newton and Lance Bass?

Jen (Too)Sorry worked a different shift last year and don't know who Blake is. Chikeezoouzi (intentionally slaughtered spelling just for fun) was pretty good. Danny is too dramatic for me, plus I don't think he's too good of a singer. It's good we all have different opinions - that's what will make this blog fun!
Lynette - toooooo funny!
