I had a little help tonight evaluating the women's performances. A couple little ladies from down the street, Valee and Sarah, were happy to share their two cents with me after each performance. So I thought we'd look at tonight's show through the eyes of pre-tween girls. (And pre-tween girls know talent ... um, hello "High School Musical" and Hannah Montana?)

Now, Sarah, 9, and Valee, 8, don't usually watch "American Idol," which is good. They weren't at all biased.

First up was Carly Smithson.
Sarah: "Maybe I like her, maybe I don't. I don't like her song."
Valee: "She was awesome, but I do not like the outfit."
Me: "Carly Smithson is my favorite of all of them."

When Brooke, the beauty school drop-out, sang:
Sarah: "I have nothing to say."
Valee: "She's a very good singer. The boots suit her."
Me: "Perfect song, Brooke."

Ramiele:
Sarah: "I hate her shoes!! Does she have a haircut or is her hair pulled back?"
Valee: "She's a good singer. But I was over here dancing, she could've done it!"

They both seemed to like Kristy Lee Cook (who was very Shania-ish tonight, yes?)
Sarah: "She's wearing her horse shoes. This boy in my class watches American Idol all the time. Even when he's not home, he tapes it."
Valee: "Look at her nails!! And she's an outdoor person?? hmmm. She's a horrible dancer!"
Me: "She dances about as good as Jason Yeager did last night."

Amanda Overmyer:
Sarah: "Oh my gosh!! Her pants are too tight!! She has a nose just like me. She's losing her voice."
Valee: "Her stomach's showing."
Me: "This performance may have ruined her. Maybe she threw it on purpose so she wouldn't have to participate in group sing again."

Alaina Whittaker:
Sarah: "I'm going for her." And then, by the end of the song: "She's like staring at someone. She has weird eyes!"
Valee: "She puckers out her lips!!"
Me: "What is she doing with her lips??"

Alexandrea:
Sarah and Valee both agreed, and almost simultaneously (in high-pitched girl voices): "That's you!! Just without the boots!"
They think I dress like Alexandrea (vest jacket, tshirt over long-sleeved shirt, cargo shorts). They were adament that Alexandrea=Wendy (minus the boots, thank goodness).

Kady Malloy
Sarah: "She rocks!"
Valee: "I don't like her dress."

And by the time Asia'h Epperson came around, I think we were all kind of bored with it. The women were a tad lame tonight, in my opinion.
Valee did have one comment about Asia'H, though:
"She had a squeak."
