The Beatles again? Sigh...

karaoke.jpg

Seriously?? It sucked the first time. Alas, it's true. The gang is forced to sing Lennon/McCartney songs again. I don't know about you, but I was bored last week. I mean, I admire the Beatles and understand their importance in music history, but most of these kids are just too young to get it. I guess we can look forward to more screw-ups (think Kristy Lee Cook's botch job and David A. forgetting the lyrics).

When can they pick their own songs?

This weekend I belted out Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" during karaoke. The picture shows me singing the same song at a friend's wedding. It's my "go-to" karaoke song.

If you could pick your own song, what would it be? It's a hard question.

Really, the Beatles again? I thought I misheard that.

I want them to do the 90s! Or some blues/soul.

I don't know what my song would be ... maybe something old by Ella or Louis Armstrong or something. Just b/c they never do such things.

Jen (too)

I wouldn't risk singing as people would stampede trying to get away from me. I'm that bad!!! Taping the show tonight so I don't have to suffer through Ryan's babble, Paula's ignorance and the overly abundant commercials.

A secret, Jen (too)? I usually tape it and then start watching about 30 minutes into it so as to skip the lengthy commercials, cheesy, overdone product placement and the judges' ridiculous banter. :-)

I grew up in the 60's and 70's and the Beatles changed our music drastically. They brought music to our generation (youth) that touched us in a way no music ever had. It was GREAT! I think for anyone to sing their songs and sing them well enough for people to want to buy their records they must be a very accomplished and gifted artist. Last week that person was David Cook. This week I wouldn't give it to any of them. None of them delivered it this week. Now I don't mean they were horrible, just not worth hearing again. My two favorites in this competition are Amanda and David Cook. I like Amanda because she is who she is, and I love Janis Joplin. She's the closest thing to Janis I've ever heard. David Cook has really got talent. He is a true artist and whether he wins or not, this is only the beginning for him. Hey Wendy, you are doing a great job with this blog!!!
