Carly gone? My confidence in America is way low
I've gotten too invested apparently. But I have not much to say right now. Even the folks who don't like Carly Smithson know that she's way more talented than Jason Castro. And Brooke White. And Syesha. The wind has left my sail. I'm glad I'm going to Europe for 2 weeks. More on that later. I'm sad. There went the talent.

HalWere the people who voted smoking some illegal drug or just drank so much that they dialed or text the wrong number?....that is the only explanation I can come up with. It is a sad day to be an American. What next we go to the polls in November and vote for the wrong Candidate. Wathc out Barack, Hillary and John. You actually win on ignorance.

KennedyYikes! Once again, we are reminded that AI is a popularity competition, not a talent show. However, Leona Lewis demonstrated that she is more talented than any of the remaining ladies.
While Carly should have outlasted Brooke and Jason, she was not going to actually win this thing.
Wendy, have fun in Europe. I get across the pond two or three times a year for work. Beats fighting traffic at home.
Ciao!

Jen (too)If I didn't want to see David Cook sing more, I'd quit watching at this point. The Voters are not voting on talent. What a joke!

RobinMan..it's crazy. The reason for it is due to the fact most of the voters are 13-15 years old and girls!!!! That's the only thing I can figure out.

DamienWhat a joke. Carly was clearly the top female vocalist and should have at least finished in the top 3.

MichaelI voted for Jason Castro and I'm a 63 year old man. So much for that silly theory. Carly should have been voted off weeks ago. She is such a phony. I could not stand her performances because of it. Jason is original, funny, and fits a quirky musical slot like James Taylor and Randy Newman, that millions of people get. Who cares what he looks like, his voice and song choices are excellent (except for opera). I'm sorry you guys are so influenced by fake personalities. The other truly original contestant was my other favorite, the bikin' nurse, Amanda Overmyer. Neither of these two were pre-prepared, rehearsed and mass marketed. They are true American Idols, not Hollywood facsimiles of real singers. David Archuleta looks like a child (but has the best voice and in a rational universe will win), David Cook is a professional singer, prohibited by the rules (so was Carly, but her album only sold 400 copies). Brooke is unusual and memorable, but too emotional. Syesha is the coolest one there, but her vocals are just too average.

WendyHey Michael,
Actually, Amanda Overmyer was my favorite from the beginning.

MichaelHi Wendy, See, you like the quirky original stuff too. Look at this comment I found:
Michael Slezak spoke with MTV's Chris Harris about the upcoming Finale on May 21st:
"The thing that could make this season interesting is Jason Castro," said Michael Slezak, a senior writer for Entertainment Weekly, who has become known for his "Idol" coverage. "I don't think we can count Castro out of the final two. I think it's unlikely; I think he's a long shot. But if anyone's going to upset the all-David finale, it's going to be Castro."
He can reach people.
