Well, no shocking results this season, which is ... good? Oh, let's face it, we don't have anything of material value personally invested in these contestants, and shockers are more fun to talk about. So maybe it is bad there were no shocking results this season.
Anyhow, I'll be traveling on business next week, so here is my prediction: assuming all things remaining the same from the end of last night’s performance, David Cook will be named the next American Idol. I say this because I can remember off the top of my head at least 3 fantastic, genre-bending performances from David Cook that he might re-perform at the finals: Eleanor Rigby, Billie Jean, and The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face. If he didn’t want to do the same song two weeks running, he could throw out The First Time and substitute All Right Now to just rock it out like Randy wants him to or even Always Be My Baby. My point is, D Cook has some outstanding choices that demonstrate the full range of his talent.
I would assume Baby Emo’s best three performances are Stand By Me, Love Me Tender, and Imagine. With one or two forgettable exceptions, his performances are the same thing over and over and over. Highly emotive, arm waving inducing, low energy songs. I suppose that would be OK if the show were American Idle instead of American Idol. I am sure, however, that the trollop chosen as the AI Winner’s song will favor Baby Emo. Maybe David C can re-do the arrangement on that one.
Additionally, what would make and AI voter who has backed a now-eliminated meaningful vote-getter like Syesha or Jason Castro vote for Baby Emo in the finals? Nothing, really. I think David Cook has had the strongest vote totals here at the end, and I think he has steadily gained votes as Michael Johns, Carly Smithson, and Jason have dropped out. In large measure, I think Syesha’s and Kristie Lee’s voters will probably sit the final out. Brooke’s voters may favor Baby Emo.
It was plain to see (to me, at least) during the final four week that Syesha and Jason personally favor David Cook. I wonder if we will have another “Elliot Yasmin moment” this week where a popular previously eliminated contestant tells his or her voters to back one or the other David.
What would upset my prediction: for either contestant, a family tragedy, personal illness, or awkward sexual innuendo from a semi-coherent Paula Abdul. Also, as schools let out for the summer and Dora the Explorer fans can stay up past eight o’clock, their voting will help Baby Emo.
To Wendy and all the bloggers, this season has really been fun for me thanks to all of you. I hope both contestants are at their best during the final, and may the man win.

Jen (too)David Cook should win, but the teens will cram the phones for Archuleta.

Nona : →http://blogs.roanoke.com/thehappywag/Kennedy, you are hilarious. "May the man win" may be the best line in a blog comment yet.
