May 13, 2008Wendy is backWell, I'm back from my whirlwind European vacation. It was a wonderful time and I feel completely rejuvenated. They didn't broadcast "American Idol" in Switzerland and Italy so I missed out on a few shows. I've recorded them on the DVR, but haven't had time to watch them yet. I hear Jason Castro really messed up big-time; I'm anxious to see the highlights on that one. And poor Brooke White is gone, too. I thought she'd make it over Syesha. What a surprise that Syesha is still in it. (I know y'all have already hashed through this stuff, just bear with me!) There was an Italian version of "Idol" on TV one night in our hotel. I couldn't understand any of it, but the contestants sang American songs. We think our judges go on too much? Man, the judges over there talked for about a half hour after each performance. Seriously. The show was probably 4 hours long. I had to turn it to the only station I could understand ... CNN. I did have a brush with fame while in Rome. I have pictures to prove it, but they aren't downloaded yet. We saw Gwyneth Paltrow filming a commercial while hanging out at Piazza Campo de' Fiori. I was star-struck, I'll admit it. But then again, I've always been that way when it comes to celebs. Thanks for continuing to read and comment on the blog while I was out. Much thanks goes to loyal reader Amy Hanek for her contributions. And also to Nona Nelson who helped out last week. Much thanks to both of you!! Apparently the big controversy right now is the banning of David Archuleta's dad from backstage rehearsals. Should be interesting to see how little David does tonight without Dad's hand-holding. Watch this...it's funny: |

Amy Hanek : →http://www.houseonthegladehill.blogspot.comClassic movie... love it.
Speaking of celebs, Chevy Chase was one of the celebs I met once while working at Disney. He was older looking than I thought he would be (I guess I always thought of him from his earlier stuff) and super tall. I am 5'9" and he towered over me. I couldn't believe it.
I sure do miss those days...

sallyThe words came out of David's own mouth. His father may have suggested it, told him to do it, but he himself sang the lyrics that have now caused the problems and the banning. Everybody forgets that though he acts 12, he is seventeen, Jordin Sparks was 17 and not treated like a baby.
