March 26, 2008I hit a nerve with Taylor HicksApparently I struck a nerve with my remark about Taylor Hicks in an earlier entry. So, here's some clarification. I found the information about Taylor being dropped from his label at gotriad.com. Here's the article. As for whether his shows sold out, I have no idea. I don't remember hearing that before; in fact I'm pretty sure I heard the opposite. As for a comment made about Taylor and the record label "mutually" ending their relationship, maybe so. But isn't that generally what the dumpees say? February 4, 2008Who cares about his hair? It's his head that's too bigRead this piece about Sanjaya and his sister at the Super Bowl. According to TMZ, they showed up to get the swag with their attitudes in tow. January 28, 2008Some quotes from CarrieMusic writer Tad Dickens recently interviewed Carrie Underwood to preview her upcoming show at the Roanoke Civic Center with Keith Urban. Tad passed along some quotes from Carrie for the blog. Here you go . . . From Tad: "Being on the show and everything is not a guarantee that you’re going to be super successful your entire life. There’s a lot of factors that go into it, and one of those is luck. The person who wins can get out there and work extremely hard, and maybe it doesn’t happen." Ashley Clark, of the Clark Brothers, was in her touring band, and Austin Clark was about to join before they took off to win "The Next Great American Band." (The Clark Brothers are from Franklin County.) She said they're very talented and fun to work with. "They’re working with 19 (Entertainment), and a lot of the people that I worked with, so they’re in good hands." So, there's a teaser for you. We'll have an entire interview coming up before the show, which is Feb. 16. In the meantime, if you're a Clark Brothers fan, you can read more about them here. January 25, 2008Carrie Underwood coming to RoanokeAs most of you fans already know, Carrie Underwood will be in Roanoke on Feb. 16, along with Keith Urban, for the "Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Carnival Ride Tour." Our music writer, Tad Dickens, recently interviewed Carrie and has graciously agreed to give me some snippets from that interview to post on the blog. So, stay tuned. Until then, here's a link to details on the concert. January 18, 2008Former finalist will be at local church
Remember Heather Cox? Yeah, I don't really, either, but that's because I didn't watch the fifth season of "Idol." Anyway, it was the one with Kellie Pickler and Katharine McPhee. Heather was one of the top 24 finalists that season. She sang "Hero." Maybe that'll jog your memory. Heather, who is from Jonesville, N.C., will appear at Parkway Wesleyan Church in Roanoke this Sunday. The church has been conducting an "American Idols" series that explores "four things we tend to worship besides the Lord," according to the Web site. Heather will sing and talk about her past experiences. If you're interested, check out the church's Web site at parkwayroanoke.com. |
