May 13, 2008'I don't want to miss' David Cook's victory"Longer" by Dan Fogelberg ... what were the producers thinking? Has David A. even heard of Dan Fogelberg??? I barely know this song and I'm almost 20 years older than him. The kid is not 95 years old. Observance: Justin Guarini, who was in the audience, looked kind of old. The producers chose a Rihanna song for newly sassy Syesha. She seemed a little uncomfortable with it, but I think she pulled it off OK. It wasn't any worse than David Cook's Switchfoot song or David Archuleta's rendition of "With You." Just my two cents. Aerosmith's "I Don't Want Miss A Thing" ... very fitting for David Cook. I love the song, personally. Frankly, this one was my favorite of the night. It moved me to want to get out of my seat, and not to turn the channel. That's talent in my opinion. Apparently by the applause (and Paula's standing O), it was the crowd's favorite, too. Again, Randy, what's with your whole "very predictable" comment?? You never say that to Archuleta. You only say "you can sing the phone book." I think the phone book would be very boring. I'm with Simon ... David Cook wins the night. And hopefully the competition. Aren't y'all glad I'm back?? :-) March 25, 2008It's back to the 80s!Tonight, the top 10 performers will sing songs from the year they were born. My guess is most of them were born in the mid-80s to early 90s. I'm actually excited to tune in now. Let's take a look: Michael Johns: 1979 A lot of '84s! Maybe some Madonna? :-) March 18, 2008The Beatles again? Sigh...
Seriously?? It sucked the first time. Alas, it's true. The gang is forced to sing Lennon/McCartney songs again. I don't know about you, but I was bored last week. I mean, I admire the Beatles and understand their importance in music history, but most of these kids are just too young to get it. I guess we can look forward to more screw-ups (think Kristy Lee Cook's botch job and David A. forgetting the lyrics). When can they pick their own songs? This weekend I belted out Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" during karaoke. The picture shows me singing the same song at a friend's wedding. It's my "go-to" karaoke song. If you could pick your own song, what would it be? It's a hard question. February 19, 2008So far, the 60s = snoozevilleMaybe it's me, but when they announced that the theme would be the 60s for this week's competition, I groaned. All I thought of? Boring slow songs. So far, and we're at No. 4, it's all boring slow(ish) songs.... Where's the fun? |
