Coming Up

In the market for a new home? Don’t miss the Open House guide in the paper Saturday and Sunday.

Sims will be the starter at Duke — maybe

After sending out a depth chart that listed quarterbacks Michael Rocco and Phillip Sims as co-No. 1s going into Saturday’s game at Duke, Virginia coach Mike London said on his radio show that Sims will be the starter — if he’s 100 percent.

London said that Sims had tweaked his knee late in Saturday’s game with Louisiana Tech, although he did not leave the game.

More on this coming soon.

Can Sims play defense and does he know how to avoid penalties.

Rocco, you did well and deserve a pat on the back. but its time for the program to move on. Sims can make all the throws and you must have that in order to keep the defense honest. we aren’t doing that currently. hopefully saturday is a new beginning for UVA football.

I cant say that i am surprised by the move, when you watch Rocco throw the ball and Sims throw it, you can see that Sims has a lot more Zip on the ball, and just needed time to learn the system. But, I will also say that anybody who solely blames Rocco for our losses has not been watching the games. We have to get our penalty situation under control, and if you watch some of our interceptions, more than just once has the ball hit the receiver in the hands, bounced in the air and was intercepted. Yes, he has made some mistakes, but he hasn’t had much help from his receivers. I also believe that our o-line is underachieving, we should be able to run the ball better than we have. Sorry just felt like i needed to vent fumbles, ints, dropped passes, and penalties are taking their toll on me and i am just a fan.

The special teams are a mess, too.

May have deceived myself by thinking Sims might be a savior. Think his presence will be a help in Tidewater recruiting at a time when some recruits might be tempted to rethink their decisions.
