Source: Rocco will be leaving UVa

Michael Rocco, who has started 21 games over the previous two football seasons from the University of Virginia, has received his release from the football program and plans to transfer to another Division I FBS program, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Rocco and his family met with UVa coach Mike London on Friday to discuss his decision. The source said the meeting was amicable.

Rocco, who has one year of eligibility remaining, plans to move on to another FBS football program and redshirt next season. He will then be available to play in the 2014 season.

I wish Rocco well. He did some good things and I will always remember the 2011 season for all the thrills and excitement the team brought to the fans. Shame things didn’t work out better, but I’ll continue to follow him wherever he goes.

Doug, did you see this coming? I wish Rocco luck and I think this move might be best for him and the team.

You can thank no-coach London for this disaster along with many others. A two QB system never works. London should be fired today or only serve as a recruiter. The only thing he’s good at.

Good bye Rocco don’t let the door hit you on the way out. He isn’t that good so no big loss for UVA I’m glad to see him go.

    What absolutely horrible decision-making !!!

He should transfer to VT so Thomas could move to tight end. They would beat the Hoos by 40 next year.

Don’t blame him, under appreciated and arguably treated like a second class citizen. Guessing he goes to Liberty. Perhaps Watford and Simms can co chair next year,,

Lambert is the future and Rocco knew it and couldn’t accept that he wasn’t the best QB at UVA. Spoiled coaches kid that has always been told he was the best, then someone tells him he’s not the best and he can’t take it. He was scared of a little competition, plain and simple UVA instantly became better when he left. Grayson Lambert is the reason Rocco left.
