Roanoke celebrates Read Across America

In case you missed it Read Across America was Friday and students in the Roanoke Valley took part in the annual reading celebration.

Here’s a look at our Read Across America photo gallery.

The National Education Association coordinates the program, which is in its 16th year. The idea is to motivate students to read. It is held each year on or near Dr. Seuss’s birthday, which is March 2. Friday schools had guest readers come visit students.

Here’s a look at some photos from Roanoke City Public Schools. I think you’ll recognize some of their guests.
