The new urgent care center at Towers Shopping Shopping Center will be open Dec. 2, according to a spokeswoman for the business.

The finishing touches are being done to make room for Doctors Express, which will be run by two doctors with a history of providing medical care in Southwest Virginia.

Drs. Steven Osborn and Serge Depret-Guillaume will be the doctors and owners of the new practice. Osborne has been a physician with LewisGale Physicians working at the Valley View practice for more than a decade. Depret-Guillaume has been at Christiansburg Family Practice.

Doctors Express is a franchise chain of urgent care medical centers that caters to those who want to avoid an emergency room, or don’t have a regular physician they can go to.

The walk-in center will include onsite lab work services, x-rays and a pharmacy.

“We believe Doctors Express is an efficient, low-cost health care solution that will improve access to quality medical care throughout the Roanoke area,” said Dr. Osborn in a news release about the new center.

There are 37 Doctors Express centers in the country and a total of 113 franchises have been awarded in 23 states. The company says its long term goal is to have 1,000 Doctors Express centers across the nation.

A ribbon cutting will be held for the new Roanoke location Dec. 2. And a grand opening is set for Dec. 3.

The center hours will be Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
