Did health care influence your vote?
My colleague Duncan Adams was at the polls earlier today interviewing voters at the South Roanoke Fire Station.
Randolph Gregg was among them.
Gregg said he voted for Romney and Allen.
“Both parties have warts but at least the Republicans are not going to break down your door at 3 in the morning and force you to sign up for health insurance,” Gregg said.
With Medicare, Medicaid an Obamacare all common topics during the presidential race, I’m curious how many votes were influenced by the politics surrounding health care.
Please share your thoughts. Was health care a deciding factor in your vote?

It was, and I voted a straight Democrat ticket for only the second time, ever.
Shouldnt you have a quote from an obamacare supporter to be fair?
Health care was an issue in this election. We need a single payer system, as the rest of the industrial world; also we are the only first world country where the working people are affair of their medical bills. Having a preexisting condition s for 35 plus years was another problem I had to endure, as millions have had to worry about. This country doesn’t have a health care system; it has to rely on extortion by the insurance companies.
I’m been for on Medicare since the age of 48, for the past eight years, and have numerous medical bills still outstanding so I know a voucher system isn’t the solution. Nobody plans on being sick or have a preexisting condition.
BTW; I always vote demorcratic.
Due to the loss of my job, I was forced to be without health insurance for six years. Because I had pre-existing conditions, I could not get coverage, with the exception of one company that wanted to charge me an outrageous amount of money and then still deny my claims. I was excited to know I would finally have health insurance and no longer have to worry about pre-existing conditions. Thank you President Obama!
No not really. Both parties are both to far from the middle for my taste. Right now I feel this country is too far to the left so I voted a straight Republican ticket. My family is “middle class” by the skin of its teeth. My husband and I are contemplating retiring early. We would then not be required to purchase health insurance, the kids at least would have medicaid, and we would qualify for some food stamps, we would have no day care expense and during the school year the kids would get breakfast & lunch for $.80 cents per day. All on someone else’s dime. Looking forward to never having to miss Ellen and Dr. Phil again! Thank you Obama for making this possible
the health care system is broken. the new plan does not fix it but I belive I remember it was thye only one offered.
hey Mike,
unfortunately, the roanoke times doesn’t subscribe to the Fox News way of doing things.
HEY NANCY! Do you currently have health insurance? Did you purchase the policy with the “outrageous” premium? If so, what was the monthly premium OR even if not, what would the premium have been? And, BTW, what is the costs today, if you have coverage?
