Goodbye: A change for MedBeat

My husband’s job is relocating our family to New York City, so I am leaving The Roanoke Times. My last day is today.

Laurence Hammack will be taking over the health care coverage for The Roanoke Times, including writing for this blog. As many of you already know, Laurence is a talented and dedicated journalist, and I know he will bring compassion, insight and a critical eye to the role. Please reach out to him with your news and share your comments with him.

I’m leaving my work in Roanoke with mixed emotions. While I am excited for the opportunities and adventures that await us in New York, I am still deeply invested in my work here in Roanoke.

I’ve enjoyed the conversations we’ve had on this blog about public health, health policy, research, insurance, and the various businesses and organizations that operate in Southwest Virginia’s health industry. Thank you for reading, sharing your thoughts and teaching me about this complex subject.

I had heard you would be leaving a few weeks ago but didn’t want to let the cat out of the bag. Best of luck in your future endeavors.
