Power restored to some city polling places

Five polling places in Roanoke have had their power restored.
Highland Park Elementary School, William Ruffner Middle School, Windsor Hills United Methodist Church, Preston Park Recreation Center and Fishburn Park Elementary School have electricity again, according to the city registrar's office.
That means that only three city polling places are still in the dark: Fairview Elementary School, Westside Elementary School and Raleigh Court Elementary School.
Other polling places across the region remain without electricity on the day before the presidential primaries, however.
Four polling places in Roanoke County are without power:
--Masons Cove Elementary School in Catawba
--Mountain Pass Baptist Church in Catawba
--Charles R. Hill Senior Center in Vinton
--Vinton Baptist Church
Two polling places in Franklin County are without power:
--Fork Mountain Fire Department
--Fairmont Baptist Church in Callaway
Franklin County officials said they expect power to be restored by the end of the day.
Botetourt County Registrar Phyllis Dierschoy said four polling places were without power this morning:
--Troutville Elementary School
--Rainbow Forest Church
--Glen Wilton fire station
--King Memorial Community Church in Oriskany
Unless power comes back today, Dierschoy said she probably would move the Glen Wilton polling place to Eagle Rock Elementary School and the polling place at Rainbow Forest to the Blue Ridge firehouse. She said she would try to move the polling place at Troutville Elementary to another location in Troutville.
Bedford County had one polling place without electricity this morning, but AEP was able to restore power there this morning.
Officials in Montgomery and Pulaski counties said they were unaware of any polling place losing power.
