The Drillfield at nightPosted Apr15, 2008 at 11:05 PMDespite the late hour and the chill, there are still people out and about on campus and the Drillfield. The Drillfield was closed to car traffic until about 11:15, but there is still plenty of foot traffic in the area. People walk through campus carrying backpacks, going for a run, talking on cell phones or walking with friends. A group of about 15 looked at the War Memorial pylons and posed for pictures overlooking the Drillfield. Another group of about 50 have gathered near the April 16 memorial singing Christian songs, accompanied by guitars, drums and and a violin. They were quiet, hesitant almost at first, but now in their third song the voices have gotten stronger and louder, carrying farther across the open space. People wander through the April 16 memorial, pausing to look at each stone. |
