Ice storm warning issued for Floyd, Carroll and Patrick Counties

The National Weather Service has issued an ice storm warning for Floyd, Carroll and Patrick Counties in effect until noon Friday. The rest of the area remains under a winter weather advisory until noon Friday. For forecast information, visit the National Weather Service Web site.

William Fleming HS students dismissed at 1 p.m. today

Because of a power outage, William Fleming High School dismissed its students at 1 p.m. today. Buses were scheduled to leave the school by 1:15 p.m.

All after-school and athletic events scheduled for today, including tonight's boys' basketball game against George Washington (Danville), have been canceled.

The basketball game has been rescheduled for tomorrow -- Saturday, Feb. 2. The freshman game will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the varsity game will begin at 6 p.m.

William Fleming is the only Roanoke City school dismissed early today.

Outage update

Power outages to Appalachian Power customers have continued to increase.

Roanoke County and Floyd County both have about 3,400 customers without power.

Other localities:
Franklin County: 1,365 without power
Botetourt County: 611 without power
Montgomery County: 148 without power

Power outages grow

Power outages to Appalachian Power customers have increased in the past hour.

Roanoke County has almost 2,000 customers without power, while Montgomery County has more than 600 without power and Floyd County has more than 3,800 customers without power.

Other localities:
Franklin County: 924 without power
Botetourt: 184 without power

Power outage update

Residents in Roanoke County and surrounding areas are regaining power after an outage left more than 1,200 customers without power earlier this morning, according to Appalachian Power.

Just under 600 people are still without power in Roanoke County.

Floyd County: 907 without power
Franklin County: 263 without power
Montgomery County: 200 without power

Roanoke flights delayed

Officials at the Roanoke Regional Airport are advising passengers to contact their airline about possible delays because of icy conditions this morning.

Many flights have already been delayed, according to Amanda DeHaven, spokeswoman for the airport.

Ice storm warning in effect until noon Friday
