Carole Tarrant, editorCarole Tarrant is editor of The Roanoke Times. A Philadelphia, Pa., native, Tarrant was managing editor of the newspaper from 2005 to mid-2007. Prior to that she was managing editor of The Forum in Fargo, N.D., and held a variety of editing and reporting jobs at The Tampa Tribune from 1987 to 2001. Carole received an undergraduate degree in journalism from West Virginia University.

Michael Stowe, managing editorMichael Stowe has worked at The Roanoke Times as an editor and writer for more than 14 years. Before being named managing editor in July 2007, Stowe was the paper’s assistant managing editor for presentation. He has also been a reporter, copy editor, metro editor, New River Valley bureau chief and sports editor for the paper. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, Stowe also worked as an editor and designer at the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Natalee Waters, photo editorA Florida native, Natalee Waters has been a photographer at The Roanoke Times since 1997. Before coming to the times, she worked three years at The Augusta Chronicle in Augusta, Ga. She graduated from the University of Florida.

Kathy Lu, features editorKathy Lu is the features team leader and editor of the Extra section. She joined The Roanoke Times in 1998, after graduating with a journalism degree from Washington & Lee University. At the paper, she has covered education, nonprofits and social services, and served as Neighbors editor. Her goal as features editor is to make Extra fun, useful and surprising.

Todd Jackson, New River editorTodd Jackson is chief of The Roanoke Times’ New River Bureau in Christiansburg. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech and has lived in Christiansburg for 20 years. He started at the paper in 1993 as a night police reporter. He covered Franklin County for three years before taking on the Roanoke City Hall beat in 1997. Todd moved to the bureau as an assistant editor in 2007, just a few months before the shootings at Virginia Tech. He returned to Roanoke in early 2008 to work on the metro desk leading our coverage of politics and local government.

Dwayne Yancey, senior editor for new channelsDwayne Yancey is senior editor for new channels. He’s been with The Roanoke Times since 1982, first as a reporter and later as an editor. Yancey grew up on a farm in McGaheysville, Va., and graduated from James Madison University. Yancey is also is an author and playwright. His book, “When Hell Froze Over,” documented the political rise of Doug Wilder, the first African-American elected governor in the United States.
