Boucher, clearly. Griffith is out of his district and out of his league.
The difference in the demeanor and agendas was so apparent that even a rabid TEA protester should have been able to see it. Boucher is a good man, doing the best he can in a cesspool of politics, for his district. Griffith is a log that will fit in all too well in that cesspool. Do not be stupid people of the 9th!
Morgan had Boucher on the ropes.
I was Rick guy until last night, VOTE Griffith. Be smart 9th!
#3, it would be interesting to hear exactly what each candidate said that made you change your mind. What were the specific topics and stances?
Boucher is lame and everyone knows it. Griffith has the passion to help Southwest Virginia in a meaningful way and not just show up for the ribbon cutting.
Speaking of lame…what does a lame duck majority leader do when he gets back to the GA? He’s already essentially announced his next campaign by guaranteeing the 9th with realign in his “favor”. I suspect he’ll lose twice on Nov 2, 2010. The R’s battle for the HoD 8th and the HoR 9th begins Nov 3!
Geoff,
What is lame is Boucher’s make believe “economic development” efforts. The man takes credit for everything the county and local economic development teams do…and nothing more. The grants he announces he has in almost every case nothing to do with. When asked once what he did to secure one grant, he deadpanned that it was all the work of the local people and he just had the pleasure to announce it. GET IT. Boucher is a windbag.
If Boucher continues to hoodwink the people into another term, you can rest assured that Delegate Griffith will be welcomed back by the Republicans in the House and the citizens of the 8th District.
This is one 8th district citizen who won’t be “welcoming him back”. I live
for the day when we can find a strong candidate to punch his ticket.
So tell us about all the great stuff Griffith has done for his current district. Be specific. Then tell us what what miracles he’ll work for the coalfields as a freshman congressman. Be specific.
Crickets.
Southwest Dave, yeah, he’s been able to hoodwink everyone for 28 years. That’s too short a period for anyone to catch on to his shenanigans (TIC). Better start planning your strategy for the next two years. If you can’t win this year, it ain’t happening, even with gerrymandering. MG’s rep in his own area has bottomed out.
Boucher really “helped” us here in Floyd County. His big plans for economic development only bought this county a huge load of debt and very few jobs. Boucher made the paper for the ribbon cutting and then skipped town and let the tax payers pay for the mess he left. I’m not sure we can afford any more of his “help”.
Lauren, what supposed mess did Boucher leave? What big plans do you reference? Be specific, and not just a drive by fake like daniel & southwest dave, who posted lame GOP talking points while fearing to provide foundation.
What ribbon cuttings did Boucher attend? Please specify all you know about his influence in the establishment of the businesses involved. Then explain in detail how ‘the taxpayers’ got hooked while Boucher went back to Abingdon. Any & all details would be appreciated.
My guess is you have no clue and are just blathering the talking points you’ve heard repeatedly on AM talk radio. I’d dearly love for you to provide specific examples to help diminish my cynicism of your insult. I would be thrilled to know that you are actually informed on the subjects. Go right ahead…
‘Boucher, clearly. Griffith is out of his district and out of his league’
I’ve been telling you people all along that the goal is not this year, it’s 2012. I’ve been telling you all along that Griffith would gerrymander the district to fit his needs, and the videos have backed me up. I’ve even joked that Abingdon might be gerrymandered out because of its liberal (relative to the rest of the district) voting history. Thus Griffith would be able to say – ‘Well, ole Rick Boucher doesn’t even live in the 9th district!…’ It’s not about now, folks, it’s about 2012.
The proof won’t be on Nov. 2nd, it will be in the two years following…
