Covington-Alleghany consolidation vote likely in November
A panel of three circuit court judges from around the state cleared the way this morning for a consolidation proposal to go to voters in Alleghany County and Covington –- almost certainly in November.
The judges, after a hearing in council chambers in Covington City Hall, found that the county and city are eligible to consolidate into what would become the sprawling city of Alleghany Highlands if voters approve.
