Capitol Square getting ready for “Lincoln”
If you happen to visit the state Capitol in the coming weeks, you might wonder if lawn maintenance has become the latest victim of state budget cuts.
Not quite. The state is letting the grass grow to accommodate filming of the movie “Lincoln.”
Parts of the Steven Spielberg production are being filmed in Richmond and Petersburg. That’s the “special project” mentioned on these signs that have been planted around Capitol Square. A “natural visual appearance” — 1860s-style, apparently — is needed.
