Gov. Bob McDonnell has invited a a pair of Southern governors to The Homestead resort in Bath County to speak at an annual retreat hosted by his political action committee, Opportunity Virginia.
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour will deliver keynote speeches on Friday, according to a McDonnell spokesman. McDonnell is the chairman of the Republican Governors Association.
The retreat is not a fundraiser, but an annual event to recognize supporters of McDonnell’s PAC. Members of the governor’s cabinet, including Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling, will attend the retreat, as will Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli. A series of roundtable discussions is planned, including a Saturday session on Congress featuring first-term Republican Reps. Morgan Griffith of Salem and Robert Hurt of Chatham.
McDonnell also is scheduled to be at The Homestead today to speak at the annual state House Republicans retreat.
Speaking of Barbour, he has a . . . well, a colorful quote at the bottom of today’s Huffington Post story reviewing the new Real Clear Politics e-book on the presidential campaign.
