Open thread on June 12 primary results

Polls will close in about a half hour for today’s Republican primaries in western Virginia.

We’ve got two races: The four-way for the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate involving George Allen, E.W. Jackson, Bob Marshall and Jamie Radtke; and the 6th District race between incumbent Bob Goodlatte and challenger Karen Kwiatkowski.

You can track the results on the Virginia State Board of Elections website.

Post your thoughts on the results here. I’ll be tracking results and approving comments until we get a final result in the 6th, at which point I’ll have to drop off to collect some interviews on the results.

    Any turnout numbers yet?

I heard voter turnout was at about 4%. Is that accurate? I would think it would be more….

Very early results (8-14 percent of the precincts reporting) show Bob Goodlatte and George Allen both with more than 60 percent of the vote.

Don’t know why you would think it would be more. The results were a foregone conclusion so most voters just didn’t care.

I was frustrated with the results. If we want change in Washington why do we nominate the same folks over and over? I wanted to see Jamie Radtke be the Republican nominee. Change starts with new nominees.
