New Obama ad promotes equal pay for women
The latest ad from President Barack Obama’s campaign promotes his efforts to ensure equal pay for women workers, an issue that Democrats are emphasizing to rally women voters to their side in the fall campaign. The 30-second spot “First Law” promotes the fact that the first bill Obama signed into law after taking office was the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which makes it easier to file pay discrimination lawsuits.
The ad is airing in Virginia, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, Nevada, and Ohio.
A statewide poll released earlier this month revealed a gender gap that could play to Obama’s advantage in Virginia this fall. A Quinnipiac University survey showed Obama leading Republican Mitt Romney by 16 percentage points — 51 percent to 35 percent – among women voters.
