Keeping up with the Romney event in Salem
Are you following news out of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s event in Salem tomorrow?
If you want to attend the event yourself, there’s a story on the front page now that tells you how to get tickets.
Carter Machinery officials expect a couple of thousand people to attend. We’re in that pre-convention election lull, but the campaign made a lot of robocalls to get the word out, too. I received a call at my house in Floyd County, and Dwayne Yancey received one in Botetourt County, too.
If you can’t make it but want to keep track of what’s going on, we’ve got you covered. You can follow the Roanoke Times LIVE account on Twitter for interviews with attendees and live tweets from Romney’s speech. You can also follow my Twitter account for occasional updates as well — I’ll be posting too but probably not as often as the RkeTimesLIVE account.
Whether you’re at the event or just following from a distance, we welcome your thoughts too. Join the conversation by using the #RomneySalem hashtag.
You also can post your thoughts here in the comments thread.
We’ll be working to update an ongoing story that will be posted on the front page of roanoke.com tomorrow morning as well.
One final note: We’ve requested some interview time with Gov. Romney. Given what we’ve heard about previous stops and our prior experiences in 2008, we don’t expect to get the opportunity to ask questions. But if we are given that chance, what should we ask? Weigh in with your thoughts and questions in the comments thread.

Ask him if he feels any remorse for the thousands of Americans who lost their jobs while he lined his pockets at Bain Capital. I’m guessing the answer is no.
What specifically are you going to cut from the budget in order to reduce the deficit? You do realize that the deficit only going to grow larger with your additional tax cuts for the wealthiest and more money allocated for the Pentagon than the DoD even requested, right?
Someone might want to ask him why he is funded by Obama’s same campaign contributors, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, and JP Morgan. Makes you think.
