New presidential ads reinforce the week’s talking points
Virginia voters are seeing a new rotation of television ads in the presidential race this week (unless they’re grabbing the remote and changing the channel), and the new spots are reinforcing themes that the candidates and their surrogates are pushing in stump speeches and media interviews.
On Tuesday, President Barack Obama’s campaign released an ad bashing Republican Mitt Romney for refusing to release more of his tax returns. The ad alleges that Romney has used “every trick in the book” and concludes by asking the question, “What is Mitt Romney hiding?”
Romney’s campaign is returning fire today with a spot charging that Obama’s administration steered federal stimulus dollars to “friends, donors, campaign supporters, special interest groups.” The ad includes a reminder of the $500 million loan that was awarded to solar panel manufacturer Solyndra, which went bankrupt.
The election is still 111 days away.
