Updated with information on how members of the public can attend.
One-time Democratic presidential contender Wesley Clark will visit Vinton on Wednesday on behalf of President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign.
Clark will launch the Obama campaign’s “Veterans Star Validators” program in Virginia, which is a group of retired high ranking members of the military who support the president. They’ll speak out on his behalf.
Then Clark, Brigadier General (Ret.) Larry Gillespie and Rear Admiral (Ret.) Jamie Barnett will host a town hall discussion with veterans and military families at the Vinton War Memorial Wednesday evening. According to the Obama campaign, the event “will focus on issues that are important to the veterans community, including the Obama administration’s increased funding and support for veterans through the Dept of Veterans’ Affairs, as well as ending the war in Iraq and bringing the war in Afghanistan to a close.”
The event is open to the public but space is limited. Anyone interested in attending should email veterans@ofava.com for more information.
