Hurt reminds constituents that deadline to apply for service academies is Oct. 1

Rep. Robert Hurt

Rep. Robert Hurt, R-Chatham, issues this release about nominations for service academies:

“As your representative for Virginia’s 5th District, I have the honor of nominating candidates to four of five United States Military Service Academies each year. Please note that the October 1st deadline for requesting a congressional nomination is fast approaching. I welcome the opportunity to nominate candidates to a service academy, and I would like to encourage those who are interested to send their applications to my office by October 1st in order for your request to be evaluated. I wish you the best of luck as you seek to join the honorable ranks of our nation’s servicemen and women.”
NOTE: The deadline for submitting an application is October 1, 2012. The honor of attending one of the Academies comes with an obligation and commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation. Incomplete or late applications may not be given full consideration, and applicants are encouraged to contact Congressman Hurt’s office to verify receipt. More information regarding the application process can be found HERE.
