Ryan to headline Friday fundraiser at Hotel Roanoke

Paul Ryan

Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan will return to the Roanoke Valley on Friday, headlining a fundraising dinner at Hotel Roanoke.

The event will include a dinner for high-dollar donors, a VIP photo reception and general reception for lower-dollar donors, according to an invitation to the event obtained this morning. Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign has not announced details of the event.

Tickets for the dinner are $10,000 per person. The VIP photo reception costs $2,500 per person and admission to the general reception is $250. The proceeds go to Romney Victory Inc., a joint committee that includes the Romney campaign, the Republican National Committee, the GOP Senate and congressional campaign committees and four state Republican committees.

This will be Ryan’s second trip to the Roanoke Valley in as many months. Last month, the Wisconsin congressman campaigned at Northwest Hardware in Roanoke County.

Before coming to Roanoke, Ryan is scheduled to appear at a Friday afternoon campaign rally at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds in Harrisonburg.

Romney will hold a public campaign event in Fairfax on Thursday.

The only people who can afford this dinner are the ones who make over $250,000 and don’t want to pay taxes. Of course they will not mind dropping 10k on a dinner though.

That’s quite a bargain…of course I can’t afford to attend but BOTH parties hold these types of fundraisers.

Why is this even an issue? Did you ask that question when George Clooney held a fundraiser for Obama and charged $15,000 a plate? And $1,000 a person for the reception? It’s something both parties do. If you’re going to get your undies in a bunch over one party doing it, you gotta do the same for the other party.

This is all part of the presidential auctions.

Wished I could afford to attend. I feel the country is suffering in so many ways. We need a change. Support you!!!

Kind of you to support them, JoAnn, because if you can’t afford a $10K plate, you are not even close to the sort of people THEY support.

I don’t think this sort of fundraiser is a big deal…as everyone pointed out, they all do it. Which is why we have the best government money can buy.

Not to fret if this is beyond your means. Every taxpayer’s share of the national debt is now $140,000. Just borrow the money and enjoy yourself now. After all, it is the American Way!

If you buy them … they will come …

Devino and Larry McDonald are right, it’s both parties, and it’s all about the money.

    What a deal.

Just go on Letterman, it’s free. He couldn’t recall what the national debt was when he took office but I’ll be you he knows his last golf score.
